Baby Food Puree Trick

Baby food puree is a common, healthy way of feeding your child. It is fast to make and easy to store; you can try many flavors, mix and match veggies and fruits. At first, the puree is the main meal; then it is becoming a snack; either way, baby food puree is part of raising a child.

Preparing

Depending on the ingredients and your baby’s age, you may prepare several variants of baby food puree - veggies only first, then separate fruits and finally mixing. If you need information about introducing tastes order - check my How to introduce solid foods to the baby guide. You will find a lot of helpful tips there.

Storing

The greatest thing about baby food puree is that you can store it in a fridge or freezer and reheat when needed. But always remember about the timing!

2 hours

Refrigerate food within 2 hours - as bacteria will start to grow at room temperature.

2-3 days

After cooking and processing your purees, vegetables and fruits can stay in the refrigerator for up to 48-72 hours.

3 months

Maximum freezing time is three months.

Freezing trick

Freeze baby food puree in ice cube trays or on a muffin tray!

Sanitize the trays before spooning the puree and cover the tray with plastic wrap and place into the freezer. Once the cubes are frozen, pop them out and store them in regular freezer bags.

Remember to label the bags with the type of food and the date of freezing.

Thawing and reheating

If you are not having a lot of time, you can use a microwave for thawing and reheating food. Use 15-minutes increments to stir the food properly. To heat without microwave use submersion of warm water - place a bowl in a larger pot and put it on the stove.

Does your baby already have favorite baby food puree flavors? Remember to always have a little bit of this one in a freezer, and don’t take out more than needed at once, since you should throw away leftover food that’s already been reheated once.
